ن م راشد — جدید اُردو نظم کا معمار اور فکری بغاوت کی علامت پیدائش: 1 اگست 1910 | سیالکوٹ، پنجاب | وفات: 9 اکتوبر 1975 | لندن، برطانیہ ن م راشد اُن شعرا میں شمار ہوتے ہیں جنہوں نے نہ صرف اپنے عہد کی روح کو بیان کیا بلکہ نئی نسل میں ایک نیا شعور بھی پیدا کیا اور تخلیقی سطح پر نئے معیار قائم کیے۔ آزاد نظم کو مقبول بنانے میں ان کا نام سرِفہرست آتا ہے۔ انہوں نے روایت سے انحراف کرتے ہوئے اُردو شاعری میں ایک نئے اسلوب کی بنیاد رکھی۔ وہ اُن چند شعرا میں سے ہیں جن کی شاعری نہ محض زبان کی شاعری ہے اور نہ ہی محض حالات کی عکاسی، بلکہ ان کا کلام فکر و دانش کا آئینہ دار ہے۔ وہ خود بھی سوچتے ہیں اور اپنے قاری کو بھی سوچنے پر مجبور کرتے ہیں، اور ان کی فکر کا دائرہ نہایت وسیع، کائناتی اور آفاقی ہے۔ مذہبی، جغرافیائی، لسانی اور دیگر حدود کو توڑتے ہوئے وہ ایک ایسے آفاقی انسان کا تصور پیش کرتے ہیں جسے وہ "آدمِ نو" کہتے ہیں—ایک ایسا انسان جو ظاہر و باطن کی مکمل ہم آہنگی کا پیکر ہو۔ راشد کا شعری مزاج اُن شعرا سے مماثلت رکھتا ہے جیسے رومی، اقبال، دانتے اور ملٹن، جو ایک خاص س...

After October 8, 2005,
It was as if the entire region was in mourning,
Nature had unleashed its fury,
And the land trembled beneath us.
Homes turned to rubble,
Lives were lost in the blink of an eye,
The cries of the wounded echoed in the valleys,
And the mountains bore witness to our pain.
The earth had shaken with such might,
That hearts trembled with fear,
And tears flowed endlessly,
As we stood amidst the ruins.
But in this moment of despair,
We found strength in unity,
Hands reached out to help,
And hearts opened with compassion.
We will rebuild what was lost,
Brick by brick, we will rise again,
For the spirit of our people is unbroken,
And hope will light our way.
So, let us remember those we lost,
And honor their memory with our resilience,
For after October 8, 2005,
We emerged stronger from the ashes.

یہ نظم 8 اکتوبر 2005 کے المناک زلزلہ کشمیر 2005 پر مبنی ہے جس نے پاکستان میں بے شمار جانوں اور گھروں کو تباہ کر دیا۔ افضل شکیل سندھو نے اس نظم میں انسانی درد، دکھ اور اس سانحے کی تکلیف کو نہایت اثر انگیز انداز میں بیان کیا ہے۔
I was teaching a 7th-grade class at the time. I was writing something on the board with a piece of chalk. It must have been around 10:30 or 11:00 when Sarwar Masi Shahid called out to me urgently, "Come out, come out quickly." At first, I didn't understand, but then I led the entire class outside to the ground. The internet wasn't as common back then. The school was soon closed, and after a short while, the staff was also sent home. When I got home and watched the TV, I saw the devastation in Kashmir and the surrounding areas. My heart was deeply troubled, and I was overcome with sorrow. In the evening, I wrote this poem.
