تعلیمی ادارے اور سزا کا تصور , Educational Institutions and the Concept of Punishment

Educational Institutions and the Concept of Punishment ,تعلیمی ادارے اور سزا کا تصور جب ہم طالبِ علم تھے تو اساتذہ کو سزا دینے کا شاید کلّی اختیار حاصل تھا، اور وہ بغیر کسی ہچکچاہٹ کے طلبہ کو سزا دیتے تھے۔ ان سزاؤں میں عام سزائیں کان پکڑوانا (جسے عام طور پر مرغا بنانا کہا جاتا تھا)، ہاتھ اور بازو اوپر کروا کر دیر تک کھڑا رکھنا، چہرے پر تھپڑ مارنا، ہاتھوں پر یا پشت پر سوتی مارنا، اور کبھی کبھی کان پکڑوا کر کسی چھوٹے بچے کو پشت پر بٹھا دینا شامل تھا۔ اس وقت والدین کا بھی یہی خیال تھا کہ بچوں کو اسی سختی سے پڑھایا جا سکتا ہے، اور جو بچہ پڑھنا چاہتا ہے اسے اس عمل سے گزرنا ہی پڑے گا۔ نتیجہ یہ تھا کہ بچے مار کے خوف سے اپنا سبق اور گھر کا کام مکمل کر کے آتے تھے۔ زیادہ تر اساتذہ اسکول ہی میں مختلف تعلیمی سرگرمیاں کرواتے تھے۔ اس زمانے میں امتحانات اور روزمرہ کی مشقیں سلیٹ یا تختی پر لی جاتی تھیں۔ سلیٹ دھات کی بنی ایک تختی ہوتی تھی جس کا رنگ کالا ہوتا تھا، اور بچے اس پر سلیٹی (ایک چھوٹا سفید پتھریلا ٹکڑا) سے لکھتے تھے۔ دوسری طرف تختی لکڑی کی بنی ہوتی تھی جس پر گچنی یا گچی — مٹی کی ایک خاص ق...

This Punjabi free verse poem by Afzal Shakeel Sandhu captures the tumultuous socio-political and economic landscape of the poet's homeland. The poem vividly portrays the chaos, conspiracy, and struggle that pervades society, shedding light on the harsh realities faced by the common people.

Translation and Description:

**Verse 1:**
"I am a man of my land,
amidst chaos and self-centeredness,
many strategies and conspiracies have been employed,
to drain each other’s blood."
This verse sets the stage by describing the rampant chaos and self-interest prevalent in society, where deceitful
strategies and conspiracies are used to harm one another.
**Verse 2:**
"Many traps have been laid,
to twist the fate of others,
people cry out for peace,
their bodies have gone cold."
The poet illustrates how numerous traps have been set to manipulate others' destinies, causing distress and despair,
leaving people cold and lifeless.
**Verse 3:**
"Today, even dreams cannot reveal themselves,
on one side, there is no limit to estates,
on the other, people have no shelter."
Here, the poet highlights the stark contrast between the wealthy, with their limitless estates, and the poor, who lack
even basic shelter, symbolizing the severe inequality in society.
**Verse 4:**
"This division and disparity,
some are your friends, some are mine,
thoughts never stop,
conversations never end."
Punjabi Kavita - Punjabi Poetry

The poet laments the societal division and inequality, where people are segregated into different factions, leading to
endless thoughts and discussions without resolution.
**Verse 5:**
"This pain borne out of youthful struggles,
I keep the grindstone turning with a sigh,
those farmers, laborers, carpenters,
young men frustrated with unemployment."
The poet expresses the pain resulting from youthful struggles, drawing attention to the plight of farmers, laborers,
and unemployed youth who face constant hardship.
**Verse 6:**
"Oh my poor brother,
earn some money,
and just get by."
In the final lines, the poet addresses his poor brother, urging him to earn whatever he can to survive, emphasizing the
relentless struggle for survival.
This free verse poem poignantly reflects on the harsh realities of societal inequity, exploitation, and the daily grind
faced by the common people, urging readers to recognize and empathize with the struggles of the underprivileged.
