غلام مصطفیٰ تبسم اردو ادب میں ایک منفرد اور ممتاز مقام رکھتے ہیں۔ وہ نرمیِ احساس، کلاسیکی لطافت اور اخلاقی حسن کے شاعر تھے۔ خاص طور پر بچوں کی شاعری کو ایک سنجیدہ ادبی مقام دلانے میں ان کا کردار نہایت اہم ہے، جبکہ ان کی رومانوی غزلیں بھی اردو شاعری کا قیمتی سرمایہ ہیں۔ ان کا کلام بچوں اور بڑوں، دونوں کے دلوں کو یکساں طور پر متاثر کرتا ہے۔
